Guide for Filipino Citizens Applying for Australian Student Visa

Here are the steps on how to apply for an Australian student visa for Filipinos:

  1. Check your eligibility: You must be at least 6 years old to apply for a student visa. You must also be enrolled in a course of study at an Australian institution that is accredited by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment. You must also have welfare arrangements if you are 18 or younger. For students who are older (18 or above), you must be enrolled at an Australian institution that is CRICOS accredited. CRICOS stands for The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students.
  2. Apply at an Australian institute: If your application is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer from your chosen education provider. The Letter of Offer will include course details, duration, fees and other terms and conditions. You should read the Letter of Offer carefully before you accept it.
  3. Get a Letter of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolment (COE): Your Australian institution will issue you a COE after you have been accepted to study at their school and paid your deposit. The COE will confirm your course of study, the duration of your study, and the amount of tuition you will be paying.
  4. Proof of English Proficiency: If you are not a native English speaker, you may need to take an English proficiency test like IELTS, PTE, TOEFL etc.
  5. Gather your application documents: You will need to provide the following documents with your visa application:
  • Your passport
  • Your birth certificate
  • Your COE
  • Proof of your English language proficiency (if required)
  • Proof of your financial resources to support your studies in Australia
  • Proof that you are a genuine student (meeting Genuine Student Test requirement)
  • OSHC
  1. Pay the visa application fee.
  2. Submit your application. You can submit your visa application online by creating an ImmiAccount on the website of Department of Home Affairs.

The processing time for an Australian student visa is typically 4-6 weeks. However, the processing time may be longer if your application is incomplete or if you are required to provide additional information or documentation.

Once your visa application has been processed, you will be notified of the decision by email. If your visa is approved, you will receive a visa grant letter. You will need to bring this letter with you when you travel to Australia.

Here are some additional tips for applying for an Australian student visa:

  • Start the application process early. It can take several weeks to gather all the required documents and complete the application form.
  • Be sure to check the Australian government’s website for the most up-to-date information on visa requirements.

Partner Visa – New Update July 2024

Are you dreaming of starting a new life in Australia with your partner?

The Partner Visa may be your perfect solution! Here’s how it works:

There are three types of partner visas.

  • Prospective Marriage or Fiancée visa – Subclass 300,
  • Partner Visa onshore – Subclass 820
  • Partner Visa offshore – Subclass 309.

Prospective Marriage of Fiancée visa allows you to come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner Visa onshore. One of the key requirements for this visa is your intention to be in a genuine relationship with your partner.

If you are married or in a de factor relationship with your partner, you would apply for a Partner visa.

There are two stages of the Partner visa. Stage one is the temporary partner visa and state two is the permanent partner visa.

If you are applying for a Partner Visa whilst you are in Australia, you will be applying for the Partner visa subclass 820 followed by permanent visa subclass 801.

If you are applying from outside of Australia, you will be applying for the Partner visa Subclass 309 followed by the permanent visa Subclass 100.

Here are the requirements:

First, to qualify, you must be married to, or in a de facto relationship for at least 12 months with, an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. Your relationship must be genuine and continuing, and you both must be at least 18 years old.

Second, Sponsorship requirements. Your sponsor must meet specific criteria. They must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who have not sponsored another partner within the last five years and must provide police clearance certificates.

Third, you’ll need to submit an application to the Department of Home Affairs, providing evidence of your relationship and passing health and character checks. Be prepared for a possible interview or home visit to verify your relationship.

Once granted, this visa allows you to live in Australia temporarily for about two years or until your stage two permanent visa application has been decided.

Cost: The current visa application fee for the partner visa is $9095 and it’s one of the most expensive application fees for an Australian visa.

Stage two permanent Partner visa: Whilst holding the temporary Partner visa, you and your sponsor must remain in a genuine and continuing relationship. You will

need to provide further evidence of a genuine and a continuing relationship to support your application for the permanent visa. The permanent partner visa has no application fee.
